# Quick start

> From the first launch to your first merge, with two or three agents working at once.

This takes you from a fresh install to your first merged story. If Blame is not installed yet, start with [Install](https://blame.so/docs/install).

<Steps>
<Step>

### Start without an account

Open Blame. On **Welcome to Blame**, choose **Continue without an account**, or sign in. Blame remembers the choice, and everything stays on your computer until you sign in. See [Using Blame without an account](https://blame.so/docs/account/without-an-account).

</Step>
<Step>

### Connect an AI provider

The setup asks you to **Connect your AI provider**: sign in with your Claude or ChatGPT plan, or paste an API key. Then pick your coding agent's model, and one for everything else. See [AI providers](https://blame.so/docs/guides/ai-providers).

</Step>
<Step>

### Open a project

Choose **Open Project** to pick a Git repository, or **New Project** to start from a web stack. Blame analyzes the project to learn how it runs in a preview; you can follow it on the **Preview Environment** page. See [Previews](https://blame.so/docs/guides/previews).

</Step>
<Step>

### Write two or three stories

In the backlog, choose **New User Story**. Give it a title, and describe the expected behavior and the acceptance criteria. Choose **Send to Dev Agent**, then do the same for one or two more stories. Their agents work at the same time, each in its own worktree. See [Backlog and stories](https://blame.so/docs/guides/backlog-and-stories).

</Step>
<Step>

### Try each story's app

Open a story and choose its **Preview** tab: it runs that story's own copy of your app, with its own ports and services.

</Step>
<Step>

### Review and merge

When a story reaches **In Review**, try it, read the diff, then choose **Request Changes**, **Reject**, or **Approve & Merge**. See [Review and merge](https://blame.so/docs/guides/review-and-merge).

</Step>
</Steps>

For a quick fix or a question about the code, skip the backlog and use **Chat**, in the sidebar.

Everything above stays on your computer. [Sign in](https://blame.so/docs/account/without-an-account#signing-in-later) later to sync across computers or use hosted services: your workspace moves into the account.
