> What Blame sends, when, and how to turn it off.

## Without an account

Without an account, Blame sends no usage telemetry. Agents call only the AI provider you pick, and the app checks for updates at launch.

## With an account

With an account, the app sends usage metrics to `api.blame.so`: durations, token counts, error types, and outcomes, used to make agents and previews more reliable.

It never sends prompts, code, file paths, commands or their output, tool arguments, or keys, and the server filters them out a second time.

## Turn it off

Open **Settings → Desktop → Privacy**. It turns off usage telemetry, and also the update check at launch.

On Windows, the installer offers the same switches before installing.

## Where your code goes

- Agents, worktrees, and previews run on your computer (see [Isolation](https://blame.so/docs/concepts/isolation)).
- Code is sent to the AI provider you choose when an agent needs it.
- Cloud Previews, part of Blame Cloud, sync a workspace snapshot to a managed sandbox.

## More

- The [privacy policy](https://blame.so/privacy) lists everything the app sends and where.
- The telemetry code is in [`packages/telemetry`](https://github.com/rchrp/Blame/tree/main/packages/telemetry).
